the game and fish omnibus bill (HF 1591 and SF 1298) passes in both the minnesota house of representatives and the minnesota senate in 2004. the house version of the bill includes the authorization of mourning dove hunting. mourning doves have been protected in minnesota since 1946.
the public safety and recreational firearms use protection act’s assault weapons ban (H.R. 4296) created in 1994, that banned the manufacture, transfer, or possession of automatic assault weapons, expires without contest in 2004, to the glee of many gun advocates who hope to use assault weapons for “sport” (mourning dove hunting?)
